Millennials admit they would end a relationship because of their partner who eats in bed

According to a new study, four out of five Americans say having crumbs in bed leads to their worst night’s sleep. A survey of 2,000 adults looked at the disruptive substances that most affect sleep and found that eating in bed could be a culprit. Bedtime can trigger cravings for many of us, as almost half (48%) admit to eating before bed regularly, and these respondents are likely to crave sweets (50%) such as cookies (42%) or salty snacks (32nd %). chips (49%) or popcorn (45%). Additionally, 35% of respondents admit to eating in bed. However, people are so opposed to eating and risking crumbs in their bed that a third of respondents said it would be a deal breaker if their partner did so. Having a partner who eats in bed is particularly offensive to millennials (38%), who said they would consider ending the relationship because of it. Ironically, they are also the generation most inclined to snack in bed (40%). The survey, conducted by OnePoll for Serta Simmons Bedding, also looked at people’s sleep quality and found that a fifth of respondents said it had been over a month since they had a perfect night’s sleep (21%). the average person wakes up three times a night. Waking up at least three times a night is the norm for Millennials, and of all generations, Baby Boomers are the most likely to report missing a perfect night’s sleep in over a month (30%). Being too hot to sleep can be another disorder. Most respondents are more likely to wake up at night when they are hot (76%), resulting in turning on the air conditioner or a fan (49%), sleeping without a blanket (37%), or changing to cool down (36%) . ). Surprisingly, people in the Northeast wake up more often when they are hot (89%), compared to just 61% of Southerners in warmer climates. “Studies have shown that hot sleep can affect the body’s ability to rest and recover,” said JD Velilla, Head of Sleep Experience at Serta Simmons Bedding. “Interrupted sleep can lead to irritability, increased stress and decreased creativity, among other things. If you tend to sleep hot, light clothing, breathable bedding, or a mattress with cooling technology can help.” In addition to restlessness during sleep, 65% reported tossing and turning at night because they cannot find a comfortable sleeping position, and a similar percentage alternates between snuggling into her blanket and pushing away when trying to get comfortable (64%). In terms of who sleeps the most restlessly, Gen Z (18-25) (74%) and the silent generation (77-94) (73%) are the most likely to toss and turn at night because they can’t find a comfortable sleeping position . For other sleep disrupters, the average person of pet owners reported being woken up twice a week by their furry family members when their pet barks/meows or whimpers (36%), needs to go outside (31%), or picks them up a lot of space in bed (30%). Parents also have trouble sleeping when their child wakes them up, which happens on average twice a week – usually when they need to go to the bathroom (34%) or when they’re having nightmares (31%). And upon waking up, 49% of parents almost always give in and let their children crawl into bed with them. But rest assured, better sleep could be right around the corner for parents when kids return to school. Almost half of parents said they get more sleep when their children return to school (49%), and a similar percentage said sleep quality was also better during this time (50%). And even simple routines like making the bed can contribute to a better night’s sleep. 74 percent of people said they sleep better at night when they crawl into a properly made bed. “While there are many sleep disrupters that keep us awake, there are also some ways to make sure you close your nighttime eyes,” Velilla added. “Some of the top tips I recommend are sticking to a sleep schedule and routine, understanding and proactively addressing your sleep disorders, and designing your bedroom into a recovery space designed to maximize sleep.”
