The snow center

At 180m this is the longest indoor real snow slope in Great Britain. In addition to the usual courses and skiing and snowboarding, Chill Factore offers mogul, ski cross and boarder cross courses. Monthly and weekly ski passes are available for those who hit the slopes, with hourly adult ski passes starting at £30. Save 20 per cent when you book online in advance until the end of September.

Snowtrax

A dry slope with the UK’s largest independent ski and snowboard retailer and workshop attached. Snowtrax regularly hosts freestyle jam competitions open to all skiers and snowboarders who have experience with freestyle gear. There is also an alpine adventure park for children in a wooded area at the foot of the ski slope. Two-hour adult ski passes cost from £17.50.

Cardiff Ski and Snowboard Centre

The original 90m run here, one of the first dry ski runs in Britain, was built in 1969. The slope is now 100m long and hosts classes, school events and competitions. The slope has a number of freestyle features including a full set of stairs, rainbow rail, whale tail, box, kicker and quarter pipe. An adult day pass costs £15.

Ski Rossendale

The Northwest’s most popular dry ski slope, commonly known as ‘The Hill’, has a 200m main run, as well as a freestyle park, practice slope and quarter pipe. Tuition for all abilities is available and clubs and groups are welcome. Two-hour passes for adults are £20.

Ski Center Suffolk

This outdoor dry slope is part of Suffolk Leisure Park. The slope is 180 m long and there is also a toboggan run – courses and lessons are offered for skiers and snowboarders of all levels from the age of four. One and a half hour sessions for adults cost £16.

Llandudno ski slope

North Wales’ PermaSnow ski slope, which has the longest toboggan run in Britain, offers skiing, snowboarding and tubing lessons. An hour and a half session costs £20.

Plymouth Ski Slope and Snowboard Center

With three dry runs on offer, including the longest artificial run in the South West, this center is within easy reach of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. Individual or group lessons are available for all abilities. One and a half hour sessions for adults cost £20.

Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Center

This dry slope center on the edge of the Cotswolds covers 12 hectares. It has a 240 m long main slope, a 250 m long leisure/racing slope, a fun park, a 40 m long practice slope, a Big Airbag and four lifts. Freestyle sessions are held on the first Wednesday of every month and cost £23. Two-hour ski passes start at £13.

Norfolk Snow Sports Club

This is one of the largest member-run ski and snowboard clubs in the UK. It is affiliated with Special Olympics UK and hosts fortnightly adaptive sessions for people with disabilities. The 170 m long main slope is the venue for numerous events and is open to everyone. Beginner courses are offered on the adjacent practice slope. An hour of open practice costs from £12.

Kidsgrove Ski Center

Run by volunteers from North Staffs Ski Club, Kidsgrove Ski Center is located at Bathpool Park in Stoke-on-Trent. There are two runs, a main run for all members and a dedicated freestyle run that hosts special “Freestyle Fridays” every two weeks. Team GB hope Mia Brookes is one of the youngest graduates. Lessons are available as well as membership options. The association operates the slope on a not-for-profit basis, with all proceeds being used to further improve the slope, facilities and equipment. One and a half hour adult sessions are £15. Slopes closed until September 5th.
